Miley Cyrus walks the Marc Jacobs F/W20 show in New York
Miley Cyrus was quite the surprise guest at the Marc Jacobs F/W20 show in New York this week—mostly because she wasn’t sitting on the front row. Instead, Cyrus strutted the runway amongst the models. While her runway cameo came as a surprise, the star has been a muse for the label for years, from being a 2014 campaign star to collaborating on a capsule collection with the New York designer just last year. The highly anticipated show, featuring the fashion label’s latest collection, was fitting for Cyrus’s own style. She donned a black bra top, wide-legged pants, a zebra-print jacket and black leather gloves. Cyrus described her runway ensemble on Instagram as a “genius design and execution.” And according to acclaimed runway supermodel Naomi Campbell, Cyrus herself had success in execution. Campbell commented “🔥🔥🔥” on Cyrus’s Instagram post. Hailey Bieber also gave her social media applause to Cyrus’s Fashion Week debut, commenting: “YUP. STOMP QUEEN.💕”
Canadian Mental Health Association launches apparel line to raise funds and awareness for mental health
This week the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) dropped an apparel line, Mental Fatigues, which illustrates the human tendency to hide mental health issues. The CMHA teamed up with creative agency TAXI Toronto and Toronto-based artist Ka-Young Lee for the project. The result: camouflage motifs covering three different T-shirts, and if you look closely, you’ll see human figures hidden amongst the print. “The Mental Fatigues apparel line illustrates an important insight about our mental health: when we camouflage our struggles, we hide from the help we need,” says Margaret Eaton, national CEO of CMHA. “CMHA welcomes the support provided through this imaginative campaign.” The collection consists of three different colourways, each symbolic of a key issue in Canadian mental health: anxiety disorder, substance use disorder and workplace mental health. And while all proceeds from Mental Fatigues will go toward the CMHA to help fund advocacy, resources and programs for mental health assistance, sparking conversation is a large part of what this line aims to do. “It’s more important than ever to be talking about mental health,” says Alexis Bronstorph, co-executive creative Director at TAXI Toronto. “We challenged ourselves to find a creative way to encourage that open dialogue.” Shop the collection at mentalfatigues.ca.
Pop-In@Nordstrom’s latest installment allows pet owners to spoil their furry friends
Pop-In@Nordstrom Pet Shop launched yesterday, with loads of adorable wares to shop for your beloved pets. Over 200 toys, treats, clothes and accessories from brands such as Dog Threads, Dusen Dusen, Haute Diggity Dog, Huts and Bay and Champion—to name a few—are available until April 5. On top of the basic shop, the themed pop-up has a personalization station, as well as clothing and accessories for pet lovers themselves. Plus, weekend events like Doggy Ice Cream Socials, Caturdays and a pet adoption event will take place.
