Transcription Platform Software For the New Age

Technology seems to be changing so quickly in so many areas of business. The medical transcription industry is certainly no exception and has seen sweeping change as a result of transcription platform software that has altered the way that they do business. It is a double edged sword whenever this happens, and medical transcription companies both have the opportunity to increase profits and the challenge to keep pace with competitors that are using current software platforms.

There’s a reason why you don’t see much in the way of simple medical transcription software available in the market. It simply will not suffice when it comes to the needs of modern day medical transcription companies. At one point, it was a helpful tool given to medical transcriptionists that allowed them to produce more work in less time. It was also helpful in that it caused transcriptionists to have less frustration in their daily role as they could produce documents more easily.

Now a transcription platform must not only provide the voice recognition software that is necessary to provide the medical transcriptionists with the information in text form, but it must do much more at the same time. This begins with the way that information is submitted; different clients will prefer to submit voice files in a number of different digital formats, or they may wish to simply pick up the phone and be able to dictate to a system.

Once this voice dictation has been provided to the transcription company, a transcription platform must take the submitted media and transcribe it. It should then be automatically distributed to the appropriate medical transcriptionist as they have been identified by the system administrators. This can eliminate much of the work that the management would have to do in a traditional medical transcription company hierarchy.

Once it is been delivered to the medical transcriptionist, a transcription platform must provide an interface that the transcriptionist can use effectively. This means that the transcriptionist must be able to customize and use multiple keyboard shortcuts. This will reduce repetitive injuries like carpal tunnel syndrome and it will also expedite the work.

One of the things that a transcription platform must have is the advantage of usability. Despite the fact that it must be far more sophisticated than its historical counterparts, it must actually be easier for transcriptionists to use. Nobody profits from long training sessions, and if this software can be used after only a few short training sessions, then the transcriptionists can be up and running doing what makes money for them and for the company. A full transcription platform will have online help files and companies should also offer on-site support that will address questions before they arise.

On top of all this, it is important for a transcription platform to be compliant. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act dictates certain privacy concerns of patients that must be addressed. Companies that fail to provide a transcription platform that adheres to the stipulations of this Act will cause future problems for the companies that purchase them.
